The AAFS has joined 85 other scientific organizations in signing a multisociety letter drafted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in which concerns are expressed with the recent proclamation issued by the White House on immigration and visas that further articulates extreme vetting policies and additional constraints for some specific countries. The letter makes similar points outlined in earlier January and March AAAS multisociety letters and emphasizes that “scientific progress depends on openness, transparency, and the free flow of ideas” and that our nation has benefited from access to international talent.
