Since the mid-1970s, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) has been hosting one-day Student Academy sessions for middle and high school students during its annual meetings. Student Academy is designed to introduce students to the real world of multidisciplinary forensics and over the years has steadily grown in popularity.
With today’s explosion of television programs and media coverage of the latest advances in the forensic sciences, students have become fascinated with anything relating to the work of the forensic scientist. Wishing to foster a stronger interest in scientific learning among our nation’s young people, the AAFS and universities with a strong forensic science program now co-sponsor the CSI Summer Camps. The Camps offer a week-long submersion into the field of forensics.
The goal of the camps is to increase students’ understanding of the forensic sciences and provide a foundation as they learn about forensics in their classrooms. AAFS offers scholarships to serious science-minded students who may not be able to pay the basic registration fee. Your tax-deductible donations will help support the CSI Summer Camp Scholarship Fund and provide scholarships to future forensic scientists.
