The AAFS Diversity Outreach Committee (DOC) is excited to announce solicitations for up to 10 individuals to join the Committee. Membership on the DOC is open to all sections and levels of membership (Student Affiliates through Fellows) for one year (reappointment up to three years). The DOC works collaboratively on issues related to diversity, inclusion, and outreach in the Academy. In accordance with the AAFS Policy and Procedure Manual, “The Diversity Outreach Committee shall promote diversity in the Academy and forensic science community by nurturing a culture that is welcoming and supportive, and by engaging diverse ideas for the provision of culturally competent education, research, and expertise in the legal system.” As such, we are looking for proactive individuals at all levels of experience and employment who are committed, dedicated, and eager to foster a diverse and welcoming Academy. The committee will meet approximately once a month on Zoom and at the AAFS meetings.
For those interested, please write a statement (500 words or fewer) in an email outlining your vision and goals for the DOC, along with your prospective contributions to positively effect change. Please provide your statement and current CV to DOC Chair Sean Tallman (firstname.lastname@example.org) by April 10.
