The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) is a multidisciplinary professional organization that provides leadership to advance science and its application to the legal system. In light of current events, it is important to reiterate that as an organization, the Academy always has been, and remains, committed to promoting education, to fostering research, to improving practice, and to encouraging collaboration in the forensic sciences. The AAFS does not discriminate with regard to ancestry, ethnicity, national origin, age, race, color, gender, sexual orientation, faith, disability, or membership in other organizations. To that end, the AAFS Board of Directors approved the adoption of a diversity and inclusion statement in the upcoming Policy and Procedure Manual revision when it convened for the AAFS Annual Meeting in February 2020.
