Student Affiliates—AAFS Eligibility Reminder

As mentioned in the AAFS Basic Requirements for Student Affiliate, each Student Affiliate must certify eligibility annually. Student Affiliate is a temporary status and may only be held as long as you meet the requirements.

To certify your eligibility for the 2019 membership year, you must either:

  1. Submit the Annual Student Affiliate Eligibility Form completed by your academic advisor by Monday, September 24, or
  2. Submit an application to upgrade your status to Trainee Affiliate or Associate Member by Monday, October 1. Should you decide to apply for upgrade, you may apply online through your AAFS account portal or download the application from the website, or
  3. Apply for a waiver: Student Affiliate status may be maintained for two consecutive calendar years beginning at the end of the calendar year within which graduation occurs. During the two-year period, once employment in a recognized forensic discipline is achieved, Student Affiliates will be required to upgrade their membership to Trainee Affiliate or Associate Member. You will still be responsible for your Student Affiliate dues.

Failure to complete one of the aforementioned options will result in the termination of your Student Affiliate status on December 31. You will not be able to pay your 2019 dues until the eligibility form is received or your application for upgrade is recommended for approval by the Section Officers.
