Updated Bylaws Available

Updated AAFS Bylaws have been posted to the website HERE.  The bylaws amendments that were approved and recommended by the Board of Directors were approved by the voting membership at the AAFS Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.  Here is a brief synopsis of those amendments:

Article I. MEMBERS AND AFFILIATES, SECTION 2 – CLASSES OF AFFILIATES – Added the new status of Professional Affiliate.  (Policy and Procedure Manual additions will be forthcoming with the next revision in April/May.)

Article II. CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT, SECTION 1 – THE CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT – Added new language regarding behavior at AAFS events and retaliation.

Article IV. OFFICERS AND MANAGEMENT, SECTION 2 – MANAGEMENT OF THE ACADEMY, b. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – Added Immediate Past President to Executive Committee.

Article V. COMMITTEES, SECTION 1 – STANDING COMMITTEES – Clarification of member status requirements for those serving on the Ethics Committee, Long Term Planning Committee, Policy and Procedure Committee, and the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC). 

Article VI. SECTIONS OF THE ACADEMY, SECTION 5 – CURRENT SECTIONS – Addition of new section, Forensic Nursing Science.  (Policy and Procedure Manual additions will be forthcoming with the next revision in April/May.)
