Six New Forensic Documents From the AAFS Standards Board

The AAFS Standards Board (ASB) is pleased to announce the publication of six new forensic standards.

  • ANSI/ASB Standard 038, Standards for Internal Validation of Forensic DNA Testing Methods
  • ANSI/ASB Best Practice Recommendation 068, Safe Handling of Firearms and Ammunition
  • ANSI/ASB Standard 110, Standard for Training in Forensic Serological Methods
  • ANSI/ASB Standard 115, Standard for Training in Forensic Short Tandem Repeat Typing Methods Using Amplification
  • ANSI/ASB Standard 116, Standard for Training in Forensic DNA Quantification Methods
  • ANSI/ASB Standard 117, Standard for the Examination of Stamp Impressions and Stamping Devices

The ASB encourages all interested parties to provide comments on documents in progress. The following documents are available for Public Comment:

*Please note that comments on a recirculation will only be accepted on revised sections of a document; comments made to text not revised from the original public comment period will not be accepted.

ASB Document Added to the OSAC Registry

The Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) Registry serves as a repository of scientifically sound forensic science standards that address discipline-specific forensic science needs. The following ASB document has been placed on the OSAC Registry:

  • ANSI/ASB Standard 022, Standard for Forensic DNA Analysis Training Programs, First Edition, 2019
