Meeting attendance by our membership is being influenced almost universally by concerns about COVID-19 and travel restrictions. The Board of Directors (BOD) and AAFS Staff are working diligently with our Houston partners to negotiate our annual meeting. At this time the BOD wants you to continue to prepare abstracts for the scientific sessions. The annual meeting will not be canceled; however, the format may change (e.g., online/virtual). We are striving to keep everyone safe and providing strong scientific content while working within the limitations imposed by our obligations and the current pandemic.

The abstract submission form is available online and the current deadline is September 1, 2020. The form also includes an option for “virtual presentation” and the BOD would like you to select that option, if possible. In addition, AAFS Connect provides on-demand workshops so if you are thinking of submitting one, please consider checking the box allowing for your workshop to be recorded.

Again, we thank everyone for their patience during this complex process. We hope to be able to notify everyone of primary decisions involving the annual conference in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, stay safe and submit your abstracts!
