We are excited to welcome the more than 3,000 attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers to the 2022 American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) Annual Scientific Conference in Seattle, WA. With nearly 1,000 workshops, special sessions, breakfasts, luncheons, and poster sessions that will be presented in person and virtually, this is the one forensic science meeting you will not want to miss in 2022!

Do not delay; the cheapest time of year to fly to Seattle is in February! The room block at the host hotel Sheraton Grand is now closed. If you would still like to stay there for the group rate, please call Trisha DeLozier at 918-998-6038.

Be sure to pack both your ID and your vaccination card, as most restaurants require them for entry.

We are thrilled to be able to livestream the following events:

The Diversity Outreach Committee will be hosting a Diversity and Inclusion in Forensic Sciences Forum and Reception on Tuesday, February 22, from 8:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. The theme for forum speaker Kelly Knight is Embracing Diversity for a Modern Forensic Science World.

Our Keynote Speaker this year, Dr. Marc Milstein, specializes in taking the leading scientific research on health and happiness and presents it in a way that entertains, educates, and empowers his audience to live better, communicate better, and reduce stress.

This year’s meeting theme is A Responsive Academy—Meeting and Surpassing the Challenges of a Modern Forensic Science World. The Plenary Session will cover the AAFS’ efforts to update its interface with its members and to expand its educational offerings beyond the Annual Scientific Conferences in the face of the unprecedented pandemic. Additionally, a novel analysis technique regarding the extraction of DNA evidence from fired cartridge cases and a multi-member initiative to authenticate multimedia evidence will be discussed.

All members are welcome to attend the Annual Business Meeting where you will learn about the Academy’s priorities. Registered voting Members will voting on 2022–23 Officers and bylaws changes.

Immediately following the Annual Business Meeting, come and celebrate your peers at the Annual Awards Ceremony as we bestow honors on members in their sections and from AAFS for both 2021 and 2022.

Not to be missed!

Make sure to download the attendee app so you are able to plan your schedule. MORE INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK WHEN WE LAUNCH THE APP.

Please visit the Exhibit Hall to discover the latest and greatest technologies and information in forensic sciences. Be sure to stop by the AAFS Pavilion to learn more about all the ways to get involved with the Academy and register to win a free registration for the 2023 Annual Scientific Conference. Also, relieve a little stress in the Bark Park by playing with rescue dogs from Ginger’s Pet Rescue (yes, you can adopt them).

Congratulations to the Anthropology Section who will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary of being a section of the Academy!
