The turkey is out of the freezer and defrosting in the fridge, which means the 2020 AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaheim, CA is coming up quickly. Have you reserved your hotel room? Pre-registered for the conference? There will be more information about the DMS Scientific Program in the next article, but for now, be sure to look through your advance program and pre-register for the workshops that interest you the most. Don’t be shut out!

Moderator and Promotion Duty Opportunities: The DMS Section currently has assigned moderators for our sessions, with a focus on people on the cusp of promotion. However, if you are in that category and were not contacted, please notify Doug White (douglas.white@nist.gov) as there may be need for alternates, and other options for promotion duties.

Membership and attending the 2020 AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting: Although the 2019 deadline for membership applications has passed, you can still encourage your colleagues to submit an application or even attend the 2020 meeting as a non-member to experience the all of the great Academy presentations and activities, and especially those of the DMS Section! If you know anyone who is interested in attending the 2020 AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting as a non-member, please have them visit the meeting homepage located here: https://www.aafs.org/home-page/meetings/2020-aafs-annual-scientific-meeting/.

Academy Cup:  Everyone in the DMS Section is invited to attend the 2020 Academy Cup competition, but we want to extend an extra welcoming invitation to all of our Student Affiliate and Trainee Affiliate conference attendees. This is a great chance to meet and network with your Section Officers, Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs. Mark your calendars for 8am-9am on Wednesday, February 19th, and help us finally bring the Cup to the youngest section of the Academy!

We look forward to seeing you in February in Anaheim!
