Reminder – August 1 is the deadline to submit an abstract to present at the 2017 AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting! Oral presentations, posters, workshops, breakfasts, and luncheons are all have the same deadline. General Section Program Co-Chairs Melissa Connor and Gina Londino will be ranking the submissions on a rubric that includes the quality and interest of the research or case reported, whether or not the individual is a General Section Member, whether this paper is needed for promotion, and the amount of editing that the abstract will need before publication.
Presentation at the annual meeting partially fulfills requirements for promotion from both Associate Member to Member and from Member to Fellow.
This year, the General Section is partnering with the Anthropology and Pathology/Biology Sections on a special session on taphonomy. This will be a great way to have a wider audience for your case study or research! Submit as normal for the General Section and let Melissa know if you wish to be considered for that session.
Finally, workshops contribute to the General Section coffers and allow the section a larger annual operating budget. Please consider chairing and/or presenting a workshop.
