General Section members, it is time to submit your abstracts for presentations at the 70th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. The AAFS annual meeting will be held February 19-24, 2018, in Seattle, WA, at the Washington State Convention Center. The theme for the upcoming meeting is “Science Matters,” with focus on research, diversity, and communication. Please consider submitting an abstract for a poster or oral presentation. The deadline for abstract submission is August 1. Presenting authors of abstracts selected for presentation by the Program Committee will be notified by November 15. We are looking forward to reading all the great abstracts.
Additionally, the Council of Forensic Science Educators (COFSE), in conjunction with the Criminalistics and General Sections of the Academy, is planning a session at the 2018 AAFS meeting in Seattle. This session is tentatively entitled “The Future of Forensic Science Education.” We would like presentations on topics such as online courses, the impact of new educational technologies, the impact of standardization in analytical methodology, the emergence of forensic science as a “regulated industry,” and teaching methodologies and philosophies that differentiate forensic science from other scientific disciplines, for example. This is not an exclusive list.
Please submit your abstract for this session to the General Section with “education” as a keyword for sorting. The deadline for these submissions is also August 1.
