It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Randall C. Baselt, PhD. Randy was a leader in forensic toxicology and contributed greatly to the field. His most notable resource, Disposition of Toxic Drugs and Chemicals in Man, is globally recognized and cited often. Fondly recognized as “The Red Book of Forensic Toxicology” or “Baselt’s Disposition,” it was first published in 1978 and it is currently in its 12th edition as a primary reference to inform not only forensic toxicologists, but also forensic pathologists, clinicians, investigators, and medicolegal death and legal professionals. The Academy mourns the loss of a valued member. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to his family and friends. Dr. Baselt was a Retired Fellow of AAFS and member for 50 years, since 1971.

Please watch for an editorial on the career of Dr. Baselt that will be published through the Journal of Analytical Toxicology and shared with AAFS membership.
