The Regional Association Committee (RAC) within the Criminalistics section provides an opportunity for the regional societies, such as the Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists (NEAFS), Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists (MAAFS), Southern Association of Forensic Scientists (SAFS), Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (MAFS), Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (SWAFS), Northwest Association of Forensic Scientists (NWAFS), and California Association of Criminalists (CAC), as well as others who are interested, for instance, the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and the International Association for Identification (IAI)) to coordinate activities, such as regional meetings and training opportunities across the country. A representative from each society, selected by the Committee Chair and the Presidents of each society, serves on the committee for a two-year term. The Committee meets in person during the AAFS annual meeting and holds other virtual meetings regularly. We are currently seeking participants, including for the Chair position. There is one condition: the RAC Chair must be an AAFS Fellow. If you are interested in serving as the Chair or as a member of the Committee, please contact Kristy Kadash at before the annual meeting in February.
