Huge thanks to everyone who submitted abstracts and workshop proposals. It is a big job putting an abstract or proposal together with no guarantee of acceptance; you are much appreciated. Many are probably not aware that workshop proposals must not only be approved by your section program co-chairs, who by the way did a fantastic job, but must also compete for limited workshop space with all of the Academy sections. The decision is made by the Workshop Chair(s) who are appointed by the President, with final approval by the Treasurer. This year’s competition was particularly rigorous and some wonderful proposals were not accepted. However, a great workshop entitled “Clinical Toxicology of the Poisoned Patient” was accepted, and chaired by Robert Middleberg and Barry Logan.

Beyond that, we are looking forward to an exciting and very full slate of presentations during our Scientific Sessions. This year, we have 46 platform presentations and 49 posters, not including the annual Pediatric Toxicology Special Session. This could not be accomplished without a team of people willing to review abstracts on a short time frame. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to all of the reviewers that made this slate possible. This year’s reviewers were our program co-chairs, Rebecca Phipps and Dan Anderson, along with Diane Boland, Fiona Couper, Dwain Fuller, Bruce Goldberger, Marilyn Huestis, Robert Johnson, William Johnson, Graham Jones, Philip Kemp, Loralie Langman, Marc LeBeau, Jennifer Limoges, Christine Moore, Robert Osiewicz, Timothy Rohrig, Jayne Thatcher, and Ruth Winecker.

While we are acknowledging those who made it all possible, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to our loyal sponsors for their generous financial assistance this year. Our sponsors are: Aegis Sciences Corporation, Cerilliant, Immunalysis Corporation, Lipomed, National Medical Services, RTI, Shamrock Glass, SPEware, and UTAK. Please take time to stop by our sponsors’ booths and thank them for their support.

On Wednesday, we will once again have a Toxicology Section Luncheon. The luncheon will immediately precede the section business meeting. If you wish to attend, please register for the luncheon during the pre-registration period, as on-site registration will not be possible.

Please attend the section business meeting where along with conducting section business, we will once again honor our colleagues who are receiving our section awards. In addition, please attend the Academy’s Annual Business Meeting to our section’s own Marilyn Huestis receive the Academy’s Distinguished Fellow Award. Congratulations, Marilyn.

We look forward to seeing you all in sunny Orlando!
